Scrum Fundamentals
Scrum in One Picture
Scrum wraps a small cross-functional team around a prioritised backlog and runs it in fixed-length sprints, each producing a usable increment. Everything else is detail on this loop.
Key Concepts
- Scrum = 3 roles + 5 events + 3 artifacts, resting on empiricism
- Empiricism: transparency (see reality), inspection (check often), adaptation (adjust fast)
- Sprints: fixed length (1–4 weeks), no changes that endanger the sprint goal
- Each sprint delivers a potentially releasable increment meeting the Definition of Done
- Scrum is deliberately incomplete — it frames work, teams fill in engineering and domain practice
Try It Yourself
Draw the Scrum loop from memory: 3 roles, 5 events, 3 artifacts around a sprint. Check against the lesson and fix what you missed.
